Eline Van Garsse (°1989) began piano lessons at the age of six at the Municipal Academy for Music, Word and Dance in Sint-Niklaas. This was followed by further studies with Heidi Hendrickx and Levente Kende at the Music Academy of Communal Education and the Royal Conservatory of Music, Antwerp. Eline was laureate and laureate finalist in the Cantabile Piano Competition and Steinway Competition. She took part in the summer course “Musica Mundi” in Brussels, where she followed chamber music master classes given by, among others, Vladimir Perlin and Vitaly Samoshko.

At the age of twelve, Eline discovered the harpsichord, and studied the instrument for six years with Christine Wauters at the Municipal Academy for Music, Word and Dance in Sint-Niklaas. As harpsichordist, she was first prize winner of the 2006 Dexia Classics Competition.

She commenced her higher education harpsichord and basso continuo studies a year later with Kris Verhelst at the Lemmens Institute, Louvain. In 2010-2011, Eline studied at the CNSMD, Lyon, where she took harpsichord and basso continuo lessons with Jean-Marc Aymes and Dirk Börner. Returning to the Lemmens Institute, she obtained her Master’s Degree for harpsichord there in 2012 with the highest distinction.

Eline has participated in master classes given by Davitt Moroney, Frédérick Haas and Menno Van Delft during the Séminaire International de Musique Ancienne en Wallonie, the Early Music Festival Utrecht, and the Piccola Accademia di Montisi. Starting this academic year (2012), she will commence fortepiano studies with Jan Vermeulen at the Lemmens Institute.

For the period 2012-2013, Eline has been engaged as accompanist for the early music department of the Conservatory of Louvain. She is a member of the baroque ensembles “La Fonte Barocca” and “Motus Animae”.
